Mitsubishi And Peugeot Team Up for EV

Mitsubishi has been making the push towards producing an all electric car since they first began working the i-Miev, an EV hatchback, two years ago.

Mitsubish and the French automobile and bicycle producer Peugeot, are working together in order to propel Mitsubishi into a competitive electric car arena and to create a full line up of green, gasoline free, vehicles.

This is the second deal between Peugeot and Mitsubshi to work together and create all electric vehicles. Originally the partnership was in place to help share technologies, now car designs will be used by both the French and Japanese company.

Peugeot hopes that if a Mitsubishi EV is successful, it can be rebranded as a French vehicle and sold in their home country.

"This new step results from continuing discussions between the companies to expand their existing collaboration on electric vehicles," the two car makers said in a joint statement.

Over the past few weeks, the two automakers have started discussions on the potential of sharing Mitsubishi Motors' low-cost "Global Small Car" to compete in emerging markets, a Mitsubishi Motors spokesman said.

Mitsubishi Motors said the deal was also aimed at developing a commercial vehicle to be sold by PSA.
