Mitsubishi i-MEIV in City Preview

The new Mitsubishi i-MEIV was designed from the concept of being a city car for travelers. This new all electric car for the Japanese auto maker will not be released into the United States until next year. By then dealers like Superior Kia Mitsubishi - 3195 N. College Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72703 - will be able to let you take one for a test drive.

The original concept - Mitsubishi i - was built to be a city car that is capable of touring narrow side streets of cities like New York and Philadelphia while being economical.

The anticipated electric vehicle was recently tested in San Francisco for performance in navigating those roads.

The i-MEIV proved to impress testers with having the guts to go up an down the hills of San Francisco, however after some heavy work to the accelerator and a smell coming from the battery having to give up a lot of charge to make it up. The heavier you are on the peddle the more charge the car is going to use up.

The i-MEIV does have a shifter but is used to select the drive mode since it isn't connected to a transmission. This new car from Mitsubishi uses a single-gear reduction transmission. The electric motor has a higher range of RPMS than a gas engine so therefore it doesn't need all the different gear ratios.

The iMEIV is reported to get about 100 miles on a single charge.
